World Bank Donates Secondhand Toyota Land Cruisers to Green Scenery and Two Other Organisations

Freetown: The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank Group) on Monday 8th April 2024, issued three white Toyota Land Cruisers model GX of 2015 to three national organizations at the bank's office. The formal handing over was done by the Country Manager, Dr. Abdu Muwange.

In a short meeting for the handing over process of the vehicles were representatives of the Bank, and the committee which was responsible for the assessment of the applicants. The committee members emphasized the rigorousness with which the assessment took place, noting the demand for due diligence to guarantee the proper use of the vehicles.

The Country Manager was impressed that it was because of following due diligence which involved the strict assessment of all applicants, that resulted in the choice of 3 CSOs out of 23 applicants. “You are the best out of the 23 applicants,” the manager explained.

The manager admonished the heads of the three CSOs, which includes the Executive Director of Green Scenery, Joseph Rahall, the head of RADA, and the head of C-SEED, a disability group in Bo, to use the vehicles for the purpose they have donated for, that is to be used by the organization and not to be personalized.

In the agreement signed by recipient organizations, it was clearly stated that “the donor hereby agrees to transfer the goods on an “as is” basis without any maintenance, warranty, or guarantee from the donor.” However, the Country Manager stated that the Bank will not give out used vehicles that are not in working order.
In their responses, all heads of the organizations committed to ensuring that the vehicles will be used with the care they deserve and for the purposes they are intended for.

The Executive Director of Green Scenery noted that after inspecting the vehicles, he realized why so much rigorous assessment was observed by the Bank. He thanked the World Bank through Country Manager, Dr. Abdu Muwange, for gifting the vehicles to them, and further thanked the Assessment Committee, for their efforts to ensure the deserving organizations received the gifts. The keys to the vehicles were then handed over to the heads of the beneficiary organizations including Joseph Rahall of Green Scenery.
